Replace a Missing Tooth With Our Dental Bridges
Bridges are multiple-tooth restorations that extend from one healthy tooth to another, with a false crown suspended in the middle. These restorations are used to replace one or two missing teeth, when a stable tooth is located on each side of the open space.
Bridges can also be placed on top of dental implants to replace up to 3 or 4 teeth at once.
Your Bridge Treatment
Having a bridge made usually requires two trips to our office. At the first appointment, we will prep the adjacent teeth and then take a virtual impression using our iTero machine. A temporary restoration is then applied over the teeth to prevent any sensitivity.
About two weeks later, your permanent bridge will be ready for us to cement into place. Dr. Scalzitti will try it in first, bond it into place, and then make any adjustments as necessary.
Caring for Your Dental Bridge
Cleaning around your bridge is important as it prevents new tooth decay from developing around the supporting teeth. We will show you how to thread floss underneath the bridge in order to keep the area clean on a daily basis. Water flossers can also be used.
Having a bridge made can help you avoid tooth movement and shifting that is commonly found in people with missing teeth. This also preserves your natural bite pattern, reducing the strain on other teeth.
